Addington Court Veteran’s Golf Club in Croydon has raised £5,000 over the past year in support of children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Members of Addington Court Veterans Golf club actively fundraised for CLIC Sargent in 2013 raising a fantastic £5,000. Frank Lane, the Captain of the Club for 2013 chose to support CLIC Sargent because of his personal connection to the late Sir Malcolm Sargent.
Frank said: “My choice of CLIC Sargent as my year’s charity was based on wanting to help the charity Malcolm Sargent founded some years ago.
"My father was in his choir and I also was a member of the church choir before moving to London, therefore I felt the connection was appropriate and worthy.”
During the partnership the members of the club and their wives have been busy fundraising, through an open day, craft stall, Christmas raffle and more.
Not only has the club raised an amazing amount for CLIC Sargent, Frank’s wife Anne Lane and her friends have been busy knitting blankets for families to use whilst staying in Paul’s House, our Home from Home in London.
Elizabeth Charing, Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent said: “Frank and all the members of Addington Court Veterans Golf club have raised a fantastic amount for CLIC Sargent.
"It was a pleasure to meet them all at Paul’s House and to see the beautiful blankets that Anne and her friends knitted for our children and young people. I want to say a huge thank you for choosing to support CLIC Sargent!”
