Dippers brave the Atlantic on New Year's Day

50 brave dippers took to the waves in Newquay Harbour on New Year’s Day, to help raise money for CLIC Sargent.

It is hoped the total raised for this event will be in excess of £2,000 once all the sponsor money has been collected.

Dippers brave the Atlantic on New Year's Day

The annual event was organised by members of the Newquay CLIC Sargent Fundraising Group who wanted to do something different to help raise funds for children and young people with cancer.

This year the event attracted people from all over, including Cambridge, Nottingham, Coventry, Cheshire, Mansfield, Gwent, the Forest of Dean and even Paris!

Those tough enough to take part, stayed in the water until the cold Atlantic Ocean drove them back to the beach. The large, supportive crowd clapped and cheered until the last person came out of the water.

The organisers Hannah Eustice and Jos and Andy Cole would like to thank the many helpers who enabled the event to go ahead so smoothly.
