The annual Amy’s Walk raises almost £4,000

This year's annual Amy’s Walk along the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow in north Cornwall was a huge success raising £3,986.50 for CLIC Sargent.

Amy’s Walk takes place every year and participants walk along the scenic Camel Trail route from Wadebridge to Padstow and back again.

The event raises funds in memory of Amy Thorold for CLIC Sargent's Home from Home in Bristol, Sam’s House, where Amy’s family stayed while Amy was receiving cancer treatment.

CLIC Sargent has nine Homes from Home across the UK that provide free self-catered accommodation for families whilst their children receive cancer treatment at specialist hospitals nearby.

Amy's Walk has grown in popularity each year and is always followed by a few drinks and dinner together in the evening. Throughout the year, many local businesses and members of the community also show their support, through attending events, donating prizes and sponsoring participants.

Amy’s mother, Sue Thorold said: “A huge thank you to everyone involved and to all the businesses that have collected and raised money on our behalf. A special thank you to Jacqui Pierce who started the annual event.”

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Georgina Reed said: “This event is a fine example of community spirit. I would like to thank Sue, Tony and Jacqui for their hard work in organising this event, and all the local residents and businesses for the support that they have shown.”
