Sainsbury’s Swindon has completed a whole year of fundraising for CLIC Sargent, its local charity of the year partner for 2015-16.
After the public elected CLIC Sargent as the local charity of the year for Sainsbury’s Swindon, staff and customers worked together to fundraise through a variety of events, the first of which included re-creating a CLIC Sargent Home from Home in the Brunel Centre to explain to shoppers what the charity provides.
Other events included a Valentine’s Day flower wrapping station and hosting Swindon’s BigSingThing Choir at Christmas for a magical carol concert.
The year of enthusiastic fundraising saw the store of 80 employees smash their original target of £4,000 and donate £5,827 to support children and young people with cancer.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager James McDonald thanked the store for all their work: “The staff and customers at Sainsbury’s Swindon have been incredibly generous over the past year to support the wonderful work of the charity!
“A donation of this size could provide 34 CLIC Sargent grants that are given to families as soon as they come into to contact with us, they help the family to meet the sudden extra costs that a cancer diagnosis can bring.
“I would like to thank everyone who has donated to CLIC Sargent.”
