Staff of Abcam plc in Cambridge wanted to do something different this year in lieu of sending Christmas cards, so they donated Christmas presents to children and young people supported by CLIC Sargent at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
The team approached CLIC Sargent to ask if they could provide Christmas presents for the young people.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Karen Roberts said: "Of course I said yes and jumped at the opportunity.
"Christmas can be a stressful time for any family and especially so for a family with a child or young person undergoing treatment.
"The Abcam staff have been fantastic, we just gave them a list of ages and genders and they started off aiming to get 25 presents. Then they offered more and then more again. Not only that, but the Abcam Charity Committee has kindly offered to donate £500 to CLIC Sargent, which is amazing!"
Laura Vowler, people and organisation development from Abcam, said: “CLIC Sargent is a fantastic charity who clearly loves their jobs, so it was great to get our staff to donate presents to the children and families that they support. We had loads of support from staff; the only request for next year is that we can donate to more children!”
