Six teams made up of Matt's friends or local cricket players helped contribute to what was an incredible day.

A beautiful sunny day saw a huge crowd gathered at the Petersfield Cricket Club to support two great charities. After a round robin tournament, The Petersfield Dragons team managed to win the cup on the day after a thrilling final.

Organiser Catherine Swan said: “A huge thank you to all those involved; players and supporters alike, who helped to create a wonderful atmosphere.

"The money raised managed to help Matt's family reach, and go beyond, their fundraising target of £5,000, which will be split between two charities who were so supportive to Matt and his family during his battle with cancer.”

Matt was a cricket coach and football physiotherapist who inspired many young people. He spent time caring for his players with honesty, integrity and a mischievous sense of humour.

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Liz Blunt said:

“We were very touched that Matt’s family set a target to reach £5,000 for CLIC Sargent and Hospice at Home in Matt’s memory."

"It was wonderful to hear about how well the fantastic cricket match went in Petersfield.

"For example, the money raised by Matt’s family and friends for CLIC Sargent alone could pay for six families to stay almost two weeks each in one of our Homes from Home, such as CLIC Haven close by to Southampton General Hospital.”
