A couple from Abingdon are calling on people from Oxfordshire to sign up to CLIC Sargent's biggest volunteering event – the Big Bucket Collection, as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Supported by Abingdon couple Luke Theophilusand Ania Gruszecka, CLIC Sargent is asking locals to take part in the Big Bucket Collection and collect at a venue in the local area.
Luke and Ania chose take part last year after CLIC Sargent supported their friend. The couple collected at their local supermarket in Abingdon for one day and raised a fantastic £250. They enjoyed being part of the Big Bucket Collection so much that they’re encouraging others in Oxfordshire to follow their lead.
Luke says, “I would definitely recommend people to get involved with the Big Bucket Collection. We all have busy lives but no-one is too busy to take a day out of their schedule to do something for others. In return you will get a fun and very rewarding experience.”
We need volunteers during September to hold collections at supermarkets, shopping centres and other venues across Oxfordshire to help us raise £150,000 for children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Fundraising Manager at CLIC Sargent, Ben Herbert, said: “We were thrilled with the enthusiasm of 2013 and we hope to get even more people to the streets of Oxfordshire this September and help children and young people with cancer and their families.”
