Red Lodge Karting Circuit near Newmarket has held a racing day in aid of CLIC Sargent, raising £6,168.75 for young cancer patients.
This was the circuit's fourth event which is held in memory of Liam Fairhurst who died of cancer in 2009.
20 teams took part in this year’s competition, which raised £6,168.75 for CLIC Sargent, taking the grand total raised for the charity to over £46,000!
The money raised over the four events could pay for a CLIC Sargent Social Worker for a year whilst they meet with children and young people with cancer, and their families and help them to understand and cope with the effects of cancer.
Sarah and Nigel from Red Lodge said: “We are so happy to have raised so much for such a worthy charity as CLIC Sargent. We plan to create something even bigger and better for Liam’s 21st!”
The top fundraising team was ‘Full Tilt’ from Vitec Videocom in Bury St Edmunds, who raised an impressive £2,253.75 for CLIC Sargent. The team were awarded a trip to the Lotus F1 Factory which was presented to them by CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Alison Ramsay.
Alison said: “This great support from Red Lodge, the Vitec Videocom team and all of the participants, is so important to enable us to continue supporting local children and young people with clinical, practical and emotional support throughout their cancer journey.
"We are so grateful for all the teams’ commitment…to raising such a fantastic sum of money.”
