Hammerson Finance Team from Aquis House raise almost £7,000

Leanne Millican from Earley has very supportive colleagues. On 17 March 2017, eight members of the Hammerson finance team at Aquis House, set out on an epic 75k journey from their office in Reading to their head office in London.

Abi, Antony, Chris, Darren, Denice, Doug, Leanne and Mick took on the challenge to raise funds for CLIC Sargent.

Brave Thea

Leanne’s friend’s niece, Thea, is being treated for Leukaemia at the John Radcliffe Hospital and The Royal Berkshire Hospital.

Thea is only three years old and her family say that she is being very brave, spending time in and out of hospital and has fortunately been well enough now to start nursery.

Leanne said: “The majority of us walked about 60k, but due to injuries with lost toe nails, and painful body parts, only three of us finished the whole 75k (Abi, Chris and Doug).

Great achievement

"It was a great achievement for everyone and the ultimate team challenge! Despite the blisters, it was worth every minute of it. We left Reading at 4.30am and the last people arrived in Kings Cross 18 hours later.

"CLIC Sargent have been providing fantastic support to Thea and her family and we are so happy that we have raised so much money to support Thea and other children being treated for cancer.”

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Liz Blunt said: “To raise £6,720 is absolutely staggering and I would like to say a huge thank you to Leanne and her colleagues Abi, Antony, Chris, Darren, Denice, Doug and Mick for taking on such an impressive challenge.

"A special thanks to Hammerson for their generous contribution of £2,000. They really are joining our fight to help families limit the damage cancer causes.”
