Helping families like Stephen’s
In the weeks before his first Christmas, baby Stephen was diagnosed with a rare cancer, turning his family’s lives upside down.
Thankfully, their CLIC Sargent Social Worker Wayne was there to support them right from the start. Wayne even arranged transport so that Stephen’s parents, Joanne and William, could take him home, just for one night, so he could wake up at home on Christmas morning.
It’s support like this that your donations make possible, helping families going through the most difficult of times.
An update from Stephen’s family
Stephen's mum Joanne said: “I just want to say thank you! It’s amazing. Thank you from me and Stephen, and thank you from every other child, young person and family that CLIC Sargent is helping to cope with cancer.
“We had a bit of a scare just before Christmas and we were worried that Stephen’s cancer had come back, but thank god he went to hospital had all the tests and it hasn’t.
"Our CLIC Sargent Social Worker Wayne spotted us at the hospital and came by to speak with us straight away. Even after two years since treatment he’s still there for us.
“Stephen’s been like a little celebrity since he fronted the campaign. People have been recognising him from the appeal, and we’ve had some lovely messages.
“My mum’s friend has loaned us her villa in Spain for two weeks so Stephen is going to be going on his first ever summer holiday in May.
“Wayne was there to help us out with advice again when we realised that we couldn’t afford hundreds of pounds in health insurance for Stephen, because of his cancer history. He got it sorted and we are all so excited that we’ve already started packing!
“I couldn’t be more proud of how Stephen and our family have been able to help raise all this money for CLIC Sargent, and 2016 is going to be a great year!”
