“This is a picture of Hannah, our local CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, and Matthew, one of the young people I support.
"Last year, we had an out of the ordinary day at the hospital that I’d like to tell you about. Every day as a CLIC Sargent Social Worker I work with children and young people with cancer, and each day bring its ups and downs. We had a real up day in May last year, with our Wig Wednesday brunch!
"Armed with a selection of colourful wigs our team had fun trying them all on and picking our favourites. We held our weekly brunch with our young people who are having cancer treatment all dressed in our wigs. It got everyone talking and laughing, and thinking about the impact our annual Wig Wednesday event can have.
"We all agreed that it’s not just the money that’s important but getting people to think about the impact of cancer and the difficult things, like losing your hair and wearing a wig, those children and young people deal with every day.
"Whatever you’ve got planned this year it means so much to the children and young people I work with. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did."
