Gail explains below about what inspired her to take part and support CLIC Sargent and how she has been using social media to help with her training and fundraising.
"I'll be running the Reading Half Marathon and Paris Marathon in 2015 for CLIC Sargent. I've had many family members and friends who have been affected by cancer and I was keen to take on a challenge to raise funds for a cancer charity.
"The Paris Marathon is going to be my first ever marathon, which was quite scary and daunting at first particularly as half of my training would be through winter.
"I've tried to keep motivated by having variety in my training, as well as running I'm a keen rower and also play netball once a week. I have great group of friends and work colleagues who are really encouraging, they keep me going when training gets tough.
"I'm a great fan of using social media sites, such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram as a way of sharing how well my training is going and raising awareness about CLIC Sargent.
"There are lots of fellow keen runners on these websites who will send great messages to keep you going.
"It's great to know there are other people out there taking on similar challenges and to chat with fellow CLIC Sargent fundraisers. I've found social websites are also perfect for letting people know about your Just Giving page."
Good luck to Gail in your upcoming events in Reading and Paris and thank you for sharing your story – you’re a star!
