Songwriter Lucy Spraggan will be performing a selection of her hits at CLIC Sargent’s glittering Christmas Concert organised with Young Voices at the Royal Albert Hall on 11 December.
The 21-year-old, who first found fame with an X Factor audition which has had 25 million YouTube views, will be joining Jocelyn Brown and Connie Talbot, plus a 1,500-strong choir of pupils from schools all over London, for a musical celebration of Christmas to raise money for CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people.
Lucy, who became the most Googled artist of 2012 and went on to sign a contract with Columbia records, was unique in the history of the X Factor because she performed her own songs on the show.
Lucy, who grew up in Derbyshire, was given her first guitar aged ten and went on to play for anyone she could get to listen. This year she has performed at a number of festivals, including V Festival and T in the Park.
Lucy said: “I am really thrilled to be getting into the Christmas spirit by singing at the CLIC Sargent Christmas concert. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and playing at the Royal Albert Hall. Everything raised will go to provide much-needed support for children and young people with cancer and their families.”
“I’d encourage everyone to get down and get festive by coming along to hear us make music on 11 December.”
CLIC Sargent Director of Fundraising Lucy Caldicott said: “Our Christmas concert raises vital funds while giving children the opportunity to perform a wide variety of music alongside talented musicians in a world-famous venue.
“At the moment CLIC Sargent can only help two out of three children and young people with cancer who need our support. I would like to thank Young Voices for making this concert possible and enabling us to give emotional, practical and financial support to children, young people, and their families."
The annual concert is taking place during Child Cancer Awareness Month and this year CLIC Sargent is releasing a report into young people with cancer and their experience of work and training, No young person with cancer left out.
The CLIC Sargent Christmas Celebration is being supported for the fifth year running by Aspen Insurance UK Limited, which is providing sponsorship.

About childhood cancer
Every day, 10 children and young people in the UK hear the shocking news they have cancer. Treatment normally starts immediately, is often given many miles from home and can last for up to three years. Although survival rates are over 80%, cancer remains the single largest cause of death from disease in children and young people in the UK.
