Bury Parish Church staged a ‘Come and Sing’ event in memory of Sophie, and raised nearly £1,500 for CLIC Sargent, the charity which supported her during her cancer treatment.
Friends and family were treated to a lovely performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in October at the local church. People from all around the local community had gathered on a Saturday to learn the songs, and performed that very evening.
Diana Hampson, who helped organise the event, said: "This year we decided to support CLIC Sargent in the name of Sophie, who was being treated for cancer at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
"CLIC Sargent had provided great support and comfort to Sophie’s parents and grandparents. We raised nearly £1,500 and have donated it in Sophie’s memory.’
A big difference
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Joe Burns said: "The efforts of everyone involved in the ‘Come and Sing’ at Bury Parish Church, helping to raise nearly £1,500, really is fantastic.
"This will make a big difference to young lives with cancer, and was a real example of a community pulling together at a difficult time."
