The Kernow Campaigners from St Austell, Cornwall have spent the last year organising a variety of events from an Elvis tribute to race nights, raising £6,300 for CLIC Sargent and Children’s Hospice South West.
At the Kernow Campaigners' recent ‘An Autumn Show of Song & Dance’ performance, they invited a representative from each of their chosen charities to present them with an incredible cheque of £3,150 each.
Gillian Cirullo, the Kernow Campaigners' treasurer, said: “We are a small group of local people who want to make a difference. This year has been a fantastic but extremely busy year.
“The support we have had from the local people at our events has been fantastic and we are so grateful.
“We have organised monthly quizzes, coffee mornings, bingo nights, race nights as well as a couple variety shows. Despite having to cancel our last race night, we've still raised more than any other year which is fantastic."
Make a difference
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Jordan Anderton said: “We are so grateful to have had their support this year and they have done an extremely good job fundraising. I really hope they feel proud of themselves for making such a difference to the local community.
“One of the services we provide are our Homes from Home, which provide free self catering accommodation near to specialist children’s cancer centres.
“For Cornish patients this is Bristol and the £3,150 that the Kernow Campaigners have raised could pay for three families to stay at one of our Bristol Homes for a month which is absolutely incredible. Thank you.”
