The collection was held as Bath Rugby kicked off it’s pre-season campaign in a closely fought draw with Welsh Rugby favourites, the Scarlet’s.
The match was attended by over 4,500 home and away fans that were all moved to donate after hearing about Thomas’ story and the support CLIC Sargent provided the family.
Press officer at Bath Rugby, Helen Bayes, said: “The Worboys’ are huge supporters of Bath and when we heard how much of a role they wanted the club to play at Thomas’ funeral we were honoured to and happy to help in any small way we could”.
The money raised by the Worboys was then match-funded by a personal donation from Sir and Lady Dyson, proud sponsors of Bath Rugby Club, taking the grand total to an amazing £4737.28!
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Kiren Fernandes, said: “We would like to thank Amelia and James Worboy for choosing to support CLIC Sargent during this very difficult time for the family.
"We would also like to thank Sir James and Lady Dyson for their incredibly generous donation and Bath Rugby ground for the support they have shown the Worboys.
The money they have raised in memory of Thomas will be used to continue our work with children and young people, in Bath and all around the UK.”
