Prathna and her family from High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire have raised over £2,000 for CLIC Sargent by taking part in a Big Buzz head shave.

High Wycombe family's headshave raises £2,000

Prathna wanted to show her support for her mum, who is currently receiving treatment for cancer, so decided to shave her head in solidarity. They were also joined by her father who shaved his head too.

Prathna said: “My mum had just started chemotherapy and I wanted to show her my support by shaving my head.

"I thought it was also a brilliant way to raise money for CLIC Sargent at the same time but had no idea I would raise as much as I did.

"Lots of people came to support me on the day which made it very special.”

The money that Prathna has raised could pay for a CLIC Sargent Nurse for two weeks whilst they coordinate clinical and non-clinical care for children with cancer to reduce the number of visits they have to make to hospital.

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Claire Shovelton said: "Prathna and her family have been so fantastic raising such a huge amount of money to support children and young people with cancer.

"Prathna’s head shave was certainly a brave thing to do and we would like to thank her for all her efforts on behalf of CLIC Sargent. I think the finished result looks amazing!"
