Barclays Corporate Banking Team in Oxford arranged a day of fundraising in aid of CLIC Sargent, raising an incredible £4,526 for children and young people with cancer, and their families.
The day was run as an 'Apprentice' style challenge, with teams washing cars, selling cakes and one hosting a barbeque for nearby businesses in order to raise funds for CLIC Sargent.
Inspired by the charity’s UK-wide event, Wig Wednesday, one team visited local companies and took photos of staff members wearing wigs.
Trevor French, Corporate Director Barclays Oxford said: “Our aim was to raise £2,000 but by the end of the day this had been exceeded well beyond our expectations.
"A total of £2,263 was raised which will be matched pound for pound by the Barclays Community team making a total of £4,526.
“The team had a great day and, as well as raising this fantastic sum, they also spread the message about the charity and their wonderful work.”
The money raised by Barclays Corporate Banking Oxford could pay for a CLIC Sargent Nurse for a month whilst they co-ordinate clinical and non-clinical care for children and young people with cancer.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Claire Shovelton said: “I would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone in the Barclays Corporate Banking Oxford Team, and all of their clients and contacts, for so generously and enthusiastically supporting CLIC Sargent.
"We are hugely grateful for their support.”
