The Jubilee Club in Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne raised over £1,200 for CLIC Sargent by holding a charity night to show support for a local family whose teenage son died of cancer over five years ago.
The family of Ross Thompson (Harwood) were supported emotionally and practically by CLIC Sargent Social Worker Sue, who is based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The family were very thankful for her support.
The Jubilee Club pulled the event together at the last minute and were worried at first about how successful it would be, but it raised a fantastic total of £1,228.
The event was attended by a lot of Ross’ friends, which was a lovely tribute to him and his family.
All the money raised will go to fund CLIC Sargent's holiday home Malcolm Sargent House, where the family have gone for bereavement breaks.
A fitting tribute
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Dee Tyler said: “We would like to thank everyone involved in organising the charity night.
"It’s such a fitting tribute to Ross who I’m told was a lovely young man.
"We hope everyone enjoyed themselves at the same time as raising vital funds for CLIC Sargent."
