After running over 1,000 miles last year for CLIC Sargent, Emma Bodles is calling on local people to help support children and young people with cancer by joining her for this year's Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon.
In 2013 Emma took on the challenge of a lifetime, not only running the Berlin City Marathon, but also setting herself the challenge of running 804 miles the equivalent of Belfast to Berlin as part of her training.
During her training, Emma took part in various local events including the Larne Half Marathon and Lisburn Half Marathon. By the time she had actually completed the 26 miles of the Berlin City Marathon, Emma had run an incredible 1126.50 miles raising £1,000 for CLIC Sargent’s Northern Ireland Appeal.
Emma said: "I’m not a natural runner but neither is it natural for children and young people to be fighting cancer....an age gap that slips through the cracks and I feel strongly about."
"I’m delighted to have been able to support the Homes from Home Appeal with my fundraising."
As the official charity for the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon, CLIC Sargent have a fantastic opportunity to raise a lot of money for the Appeal, I’d encourage anyone thinking of entering to go for it and ‘Run for Home’.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Christine McClune said: “What Emma did was inspirational and we are delighted to have her support in the 2014 Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon.
"If you’re a runner, a relay racer or a walker and are interested in getting involved in the 2014 marathon, then join the CLIC Sargent team ‘Run for Home’!"
