Cycling for Libby

Carol Roberts, her husband Kevin, and Tim Spearing, of Bridgewater, Somerset, took part in the 80 mile cycle with 200 other CLIC Sargent riders to raise money for children and young people with cancer.

They were inspired by Elisabeth Heal, known as Libby, who is a pupil at Robert Blake Science College in Bridgewater, where Carol teaches.

Starting in Millennium Square in the heart of Bristol, the ride, held on Sunday July 1, finished at Oxpens Meadows, Oxford.

Libby underwent surgery earlier this year for the removal of an ovarian tumor. She has also had chemotherapy, but has now finished her treatment.

Mum Jacqui said Libby had remained positive throughout her illness, and has raised more than £1700 for CLIC Sargent by making bead bracelets.

“Libby is an inspiration to everyone she meets, with dignity beyond her years,” said Jacqui.
