Martin Stimpson from Essex has raised over £200 for CLIC Sargent by taking part in the charity’s Big Buzz fundraising event.
The Big Buzz gives people the chance to show their support for children and young people with cancer by getting creative with their hair.
Martin said: "l decided to have a change in my life, and a new haircut was part of it...having been growing my hair since 2007, it’s a big step."
"I wanted to do it for a children’s charity as they mean so much to me and always have. I know that every penny raised goes to helping build their future.”
So far Martin’s Big Buzz has raised over £200 for CLIC Sargent with more sponsorship money still coming in.
The money that Martin has raised could pay for a CLIC Sargent Nurse for a day whilst they coordinate clinical and non-clinical care for children with cancer to reduce the number of visits they have to make to hospital.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Karen Roberts said: "When young people get cancer many lose their hair, CLIC Sargent is really grateful to Martin for showing his support for them by being sponsored to shave his head. Thank you Martin!"
