Suffolk Canine Crèche, East Anglia's most prestigious hotel and daycare centre for dogs, gathered together dozens of dogs and their owners on Sizewell beach to take part in a charity walk to raise money for CLIC Sargent.
You’d be forgiven for thinking the 40 dogs were out for their usual Sunday stroll but big-hearted businesswoman, Candy Rose, owner of the Suffolk Canine Crèche, had invited customers and friends to bring their canine companions to the beach to support children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Mrs Rose, whose business boasts more than 300 dogs per week and sleepovers in 10 luxury hotel rooms, said: “I am thrilled at the response, it was simply a dog walk, which people do with their dogs every day.
"However most people do not get to see that many dogs interact freely together - these dogs all have wonderful temperaments and it was a lovely to see so many happy, friendly pet dogs having seaside frolics!”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Daisy Turner said: “The event was a great success and we are so grateful to Candy for her continued support to help CLIC Sargent’s work in the local community."
Summer charity dog show
This was just the first event on the Suffolk Canine Creche’s fundraising calendar, and now Mrs Rose, a member of CLIC Sargent corporate partner Avanti Networking, intends to hold a Charity Dog Show in the summer.
She added: “We have booked Woodbridge Town Football Club for Sunday 16 August and will be holding a Dog Show and Family Fun Day.
"We'll also have three rings of judging to include pedigree and novelty classes as well as handling, some fun races, a treasure hunt, raffle, photobooth and some amazing prizes to be won, with every penny going to CLIC Sargent."
