Eight-year-old Amelie has cut off her beautiful long locks to raise over £1,200 in support of children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Amelie decided to cut her long locks to shoulder length. She donated approximately 12 inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust for it to be made into a wig for a child receiving treatment. Amelie also raised over £1,200 for CLIC Sargent through sponsorship from family and friends.
Amelie’s mum, Kirstie was delighted by a donation from her cousin's employer who having heard about Amelie’s fundraiser, was inspired to donate the company's Christmas charity donation of £1,000.
Kirstie said: “It is amazing, as well as raising an amazing amount for CLIC Sargent and donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust, this fundraising has given Amelie, who struggles with self-confidence and anxiety, great personal and emotional gain. We are all really proud of Amelie.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Georgina Reed, said: “We are thrilled that Amelie decided to raise money for CLIC Sargent with her haircut.
"The money she has raised will make a huge difference to children and young people with cancer. Her initiative and will to help others is inspirational.”
