For the 32nd year, the Belfast City Marathon will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, 6 May 2013.

Over 20,000 runners are expected to take to the streets, weaving their way through the city and its iconic landmarks. Barry and Carl believe this is the perfect way for runners and relay teams to go the extra mile for children with cancer.

Families in Northern Ireland currently travel an average of 500 miles a week to get the cancer treatment their child needs. This is a huge financial and emotional strain on the family, at an already stressful time. With the Homes from Home Appeal, CLIC Sargent aims to build free self catering accommodation close to the two main Belfast Hospitals.

Champion Boxer, Barry McGuigan who is manager of Carl Frampton, and a CLIC Sargent Patron said:

“To add to the fantastic support CLIC Sargent already provides to children, young people and their families, they are currently focussing on their Homes from Home Appeal. The appeal aims to build free self catering accommodation close to the two main Belfast Hospitals for families when their child is undergoing treatment for cancer.

This will mean that families who travel long distances will be able to stay close to their child during treatment. All the funds raised by people running for CLIC Sargent in the Belfast City Marathon will bring them closer to reaching their goal.”
