Simon Walker from Dewsbury, has raised an amazing £2103.01 for CLIC Sargent by organising an acoustic music event called 'Music vs The Big C'.

'Music vs The Big C' event raises over £2,000

Thanks to the sponsorship provided by local company Batley Transport, Simon was able to arrange a number of live acts to perform at the event. He raised over £2,000 by selling tickets to the event as well CDs and holding a raffle with prizes supplied by local businesses.

Simon, 27, a budding musician himself, organised the event alongside his partner Anna Lee to raise money for CLIC Sargent after the charity supported him through his own cancer treatment.

Simon said: “CLIC Sargent really helped me when I went through it and it's great to be able to give something back. The event was such a success that we hope to make this an annual event now.”

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Stephen Jackett said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Simon has made this wonderful contribution.

"We really appreciate the hard work and generosity that has gone in to raising the money and every penny raised will help provide vital support for children and young people with cancer, and their families.
