Zoë raises over £500 by cutting her hair

Over half term, Zoë, nine, got up to something a little bit different! She took part in the CLIC Sargent Big Buzz campaign to raise over £500 for children and young people with cancer.

Zoë raises over £500 by cutting her hair

Zoë’s mum Michelle said: “Two of Zoë's grandmas battled and survived cancer in 2015/2016 and both used wigs during their chemotherapy.

"Zoë decided then to grow her hair as long as she could to donate it for wigs for other people with cancer. She chose CLIC Sargent so she could help more children with cancer and saw on their website the great work they do.

"I would like to thank Verity and Charlotte from The Pink Room in Fair Oak for doing such a fantastic job with cutting Zoë’s hair."

Zoe raised money for CLIC Sargent and donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs for children going through cancer treatment.

Zoë from Fair Oak, near Eastleigh, said: “If I didn't cut my hair for charity I would probably regret it. Since I've cut it for children's wigs I feel really proud of myself."

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Liz Blunt said: “Zoë has done brilliantly at raising vitally needed funds for CLIC Sargent.

"£500 will pay for a family to stay for two weeks in CLIC Haven, one of our Homes from Home, next to Southampton Hospital.

"Our recent research shows that on average a family has to spend an extra £600 a month for additional costs such as car park costs and petrol etc.

"We are pleased to be able to help alleviate the costs by offering our Homes from Home and we know it is easier for the families to stay near their loved ones in a home environment.”
