Every year a committed group of singers and musicians get together for the annual CLIC Sargent Carol Concert at the City Hall in Newcastle to raise money for children and young people with cancer.
The choir is made up of the Newcastle Hospitals Choir, junior and senior choirs of Kings Priory Academy and New Tyneside Orchestra. It is also hoped that another school will join the choir this year.

In memory of Stephen
The event has always been organised and conducted primarily by Stephen Pettitt. Sadly Stephen died at the beginning of this year but the committee has bravely decided to continue and this concert will be in his memory.
This year will be the 33rd year of the concert and it is sure to be another huge success, carrying on Stephen’s good work. Over the years the concert has raised in excess of £200,000 for CLIC Sargent.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Dee Tyler said: “It's always a wonderful way to start the festive period and there are always mince pies and refreshments to be had.
"We hope this year’s event will be a fitting tribute to a lovely man and great supporter of CLIC Sargent.”
A fitting tribute
Committee member Mavis Harris said: “This year we welcome Stephen’s own prodigy, Dr Malcolm Moffatt, as the new conductor to help honour Stephen and make this concert a fitting tribute.
"Stephen’s contribution was outstanding but his legacy is and will continue to be tremendous.”
