Our amazing team of 100 brave and enthusiastic dippers blew off the cobwebs as they went racing into the Moray Firth and got the New Year off to a cracking start.

Nairn New Year's Day Dip 2016

The first ever Nairn New Year’s Day Dip saw a procession of bathers and fancy dress waders parade to the beach from the Golf View Hotel.

Well done to everyone who completed the Nairn New Year’s Day Dip and raised funds to support children and young people with cancer, and their families.

Thank yous

There were many in fancy dress, including a mermaid, some bananas, a snowman and many more.

CLIC Sargent Area Fundraising Manager Peter Logie, dressed as a blue penguin, said:  "This was a fantastic event really embraced by the whole community. The conditions were excellent and the Golf View Hotel and Spa was a great base.

"Ina Davies and her team provided tremendous support with many of them taking part and Nairn Rotary provided many excellent volunteers alongside some faithful regulars.

"A big thank you must go to Nairn Sailing Club for their safety boat and filming and to the coastguard team who provided very professional cover.

"Personal trainer Alan Goodwin warmed us all up nicely and George Gibson piped us down in style. Many thanks to Laurie Piper for his megaphone, the Red Cross for cover and Graham Mackenzie for his photos.

"There was some great fundraising going on with Scott Bissett from Kirkintilloch contributing more than £2,000 and winning dinner, bed and breakfast for two from Crerar Hotels, who are huge supporters of the charity. Finally, a massive thank you to all our participants and everyone who contributed to make this event such a success."

It is hoped the event will raise £10,000 to support children and young people with cancer, and their families.
