Kirkwall Midnight Runway Run 2015

Well done to everyone who took part in the Kirkwall Midnight Runway Run 2015 to help raise £9,100 for children and young people with cancer, and their families.

This could help pay for nine families to stay in one of CLIC Sargent's Homes from Home for a month.

From those dressed up as a Fast Food Team, to Superwoman and The Incredible Hulk, to Mickey Mouse, the participants really got into the swing of the evening.

The fastest man was Billy Johnstone, aka Tigger, in a time of 23 minutes 11 seconds, fastest woman was Zoe Flaws in a time of 25 minutes nine seconds and fastest junior Rhys Davies at 25 minutes 26 seconds.

Team Fast Food won the best fancy dress team prize and Kerry Stanger won best individual fancy dress with her cat costume.

The highest adult fundraiser was Irvine Budge, who raised a terrific £700 and Sharon Moore, the highest junior fundraiser, raised £130.

Thank you

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Peter Logie said: "This was a great night, everyone was in good spirits and I was bowled over by the fancy dress efforts.

"The support we had from Davie Berston and his team at the airport was outstanding, from Michael Firth driving the coach, to the fire crew turning out to light the course, Debbie Henning and her team at the restaurant providing bacon rolls and hot drinks, to Liz Harcus and her crew for looking after us.

"A huge thank you to the team of volunteers from Tesco, the Rotary Group and Alison Davis, Brian and Amy who did a fantastic job in difficult conditions clocking participant's times.

"Also thank you to Gina Dickinson and James Groat who provided the music, Warren Tullock from WR Tullock who kindly sponsored the event and HIAL who sponsored the trophies. Also thank you to Pentland Ferries who kindly provided some great party bags with the Picky Centre contributing.

"This was a magnificent team effort - we are humbled by the support from everyone, particularly when they ended up getting to their beds so late - we couldn't have done it without you."
