From 23 November until 22 December 2013, a team of CLIC Sargent volunteers ran a Santa's Grotto at Hillside Nursery Centre and raised an amazing £37,100.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Christine McClune was presented a cheque on behalf of the charity by Karen Rankin from Hillside Nursery Centre.
Christine said: "We were delighted to have the opportunity to run the grotto at Hillside and the amount of money raised is an incredible boost to the Northern Ireland Homes from Home Appeal.
I would like to thank Hillside for supporting CLIC Sargent and all of our fantastic volunteers who gave up their time so close to Christmas to help us reach this total."
The money raised from the grotto is going to the CLIC Sargent Homes from Home Appeal to build two specialist properties for families to stay at while their child undergoes treatment for cancer.
About the Northern Ireland Appeal
On average, families in Northern Ireland have to travel 95 miles, up to five times a week to access the cancer treatment they need for their sick child.
Our aim is to build two Homes from Home close to the two main Belfast hospitals so that we can ease this financial and emotional burden on families at an already difficult time.
The first of the Homes from Home close to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children officially opened on 20 December and work is likely to begin on the Home from Home for teenagers and young adults close to the Belfast City Hospital later this year.
