Well done to our team of 25 fearless supporters, who faced the flames of fire and took on CLIC Sargent's first ever Glasgow Firewalk in support of children and young people with cancer, and their families.

Glasgow Firewalk 2016

Our firewalkers were amazing and together raised a scorching £7,000 to support young cancer patients. The amount raised could help pay for seven families to stay in one of CLIC Sargent's Homes from Home for an entire month.

The event

The challenge took place in Glasgow's Merchant City and participants, some of whom had travelled from as far as Manchester and the Isle of Harris put their bravery and courage to the test by walking over hot coals above 900°F in temperature.

Debra Donnely, a participant from Helensburgh said: "I'm doing the charity Firewalk for CLIC Sargent because my stepson Logan is fighting stage four lymphoma.

"CLIC Sargent supports children with cancer and their families and they have been a wonderful support to Logan as he has been able to stay down here in their Home from Home, Marion's House, during his gruelling treatments.

"Me, my lovely mother in law Jane and my awesome friend Jodie had decided to do this firewalk to raise money for this wonderful charity that help kids affected by cancer every day and their families. Keeping them together during very hard times. This means the world to us."

A big thank you

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Rachael McLean said: "The whole group did incredibly well at our first ever firewalk event. We'd like to thank all of our participants and everyone who joined us on the night to show support.

"We’d also like to say a big thank you to Mace for very kindly donating the use of their site to us free of charge, Celtic Fire for delivering a brilliant experience, Venture Photography for all their fabulous photos, everyone at Warehouse Merchant City and our fab volunteers from Barclays in Glasgow – we are grateful for everyone's support.

"The money raised at the event will make a huge difference to the young cancer patients in Scotland today."
