The European Doctors Orchestra (EDO) has once again kindly chosen to support CLIC Sargent when it returns to the Sage, Gateshead, for a performance that includes the usual Russian drama but with a Latin twist.
This year’s concert will include the EDO's first female conductor, the Venezuelan Ms Natalia Luis-Bassa, with a programme that includes:
- Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Marquez
- Prokofiev Symphony No. 5
- Rachmaninov Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini
And soloist: Daniel Grimwood

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Dee Tyler said: “We are delighted to once again be working alongside the EDO for their 2016 UK concert.
“It promises to be a wonderful afternoon of music whilst supporting a very worthy cause.
“We’d like to thank everyone involved in the event, but especially to the organisers who work so hard on top of their already hectic jobs to pull this event together.”
The EDO gave its inaugural concert in London in November 2004 and since then has performed in Bucharest, Budapest, Berlin, Verona and Poznan.
The orchestra is made up of 96 doctors from every field of medicine and from across Europe. They meet twice yearly, once in the UK and the other in a city on the European mainland.
Each three day meeting ends in a public concert. All the players are self-funding and the profits of each concert go to its chosen charity.
