The Cyclone Festival of Cycling 2017

The challenge

Entries for the 2017 Festival of Cycling Cyclone are open. Choose from four routes and enjoy a very special day in the saddle at one of the UK's longest-established and most loved events. Now in their 11th year, The Cyclone Challenge Rides offer four routes, full back-up, up to four feeds and lots of local community involvement with teas and cakes en route.

The event gets going on the evening of Friday 16 June when the Tyne 6 Bridges family/leisure rides take place on traffic-free routes alongside the Tyne, beginning in central Newcastle

On Saturday 17 June, thousands of riders will take on the four routes (34, 64, 90 and 106 miles) of the Cyclone Challenge Rides through Northumberland's matchless landscapes.

Meticulously planned and signposted, these rides have extensive first aid and mechanical support as well as a number of well-stocked feeds. Many of the villages on the routes also ply riders with home-made cakes and teas. This is one of the UK's premier 'sportive' events and should be on the bucket list of any keen cyclist.

Join Team CLIC Sargent

There are two cycle events to choose from:

There are different routes and distances available for these family rides so there really is something for everyone.

The registration fee depends upon your chosen route/distance and there is no set minimum sponsorship target. We simply ask you to raise as much as you can for children and young people with cancer.

We're here for you

When you take on a challenge for us, we tailor our fundraising and training support specifically to you. Tell us what you need and we’ll get on it. By joining Team CLIC Sargent, you’re helping to make a difference for children and young people with cancer. The least we can do is show you how much we appreciate it.

  • You'll have free access to our new online training zone
  • If you raise £100 or more, we'll send you a snazzy CLIC Sargent cycling jersey to wear on the day
  • We’ll shower you with advice, ideas and materials to get the money rolling in, and if you ever need us we’re only a phone call away.
