Young cancer survivors will be showcasing their classical music talents in a concert with BBC Young Pianist winner Cordelia Williams and students from the Royal College of Music.
The concert will be the culmination of a week-long residential workshop for young musicians from across the country, organised by CLIC Sargent.
As well as performances from the young people the concert will feature classical piano music performed by Cordelia Williams. She will be accompanied by the CLIC Sargent Orchestra, comprising students from the Royal College of Music and players from the Wiltshire and Swindon Youth Orchestra.
The workshop and concert have been funded by the Classic FM Foundation, which chose to support CLIC Sargent in its Christmas Appeal last year. Classic FM’s Jane Jones, who presents the Full Works Concert every weekday evening on the station, is compering the concert.
Phil Day, Youth Music Co-ordinator at CLIC Sargent, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the young people to get some expert advice and guidance as well as the chance to perform alongside professional musicians.
“CLIC Sargent supports children and young people throughout their cancer journey and in addition to making music this week will provide a valuable opportunity to relax and make friends and share common experiences.”
There will also performances from well known classical performers such as Cordelia Williams on the night.
