About the partnership
Zurich employees chose to support CLIC Sargent in 2011 and gave a £50,000 grant a year, for six years, to enable CLIC Sargent to stop cancer destroying young lives.
CLIC Sargent believes young people with lived experience of cancer are the best people to explain what it's really like and tell us what support is needed. Our Participation service involves young people and children in various opportunities that allow them to share their views and influence our work. In the last 12 months this has been kindly supported by Zurich Community Trust.
Feedback from a young person on the Participation service:
"The support you get from each other is amazing. We want to make things better for someone else going through what we have. We want to make the charity even better for the next people who are diagnosed. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing we have an impact and say at the charity whilst supporting each other."
Throughout the partnership Zurich employees have been involved in some exciting fundraising activities, volunteering opportunities and challenges.
In May 2016, Zurich employees got involved with Wig Wednesday, which saw employees come to work wearing wigs as well as organising quizzes and sweepstakes. Other fundraising events during the course of the partnership have included an abseil down the inside of the London Underwriting Centre and two skydives.
Employees have taken part in spring and festive challenges, and raised money to donate chocolate selection boxes, food and toiletry hampers to CLIC Sargent Homes from Home in London, Southampton, Nottingham, Glasgow and Bristol.
