CLIC Sargent undertakes venue fundraising at private sites such as supermarkets, malls and events, which is a very effective method of fundraising. It allows us to plan our services based on a reliable source of income which is vital for us to be able to be there for children, young people and their families. Here are some frequently asked questions and answers.

Why do we use this as a method of fundraising?

Venue fundraising is a successful and cost effective way to generate income for CLIC Sargent, in which fundraisers speak to potential new supporters about the charity and ask them if they would like to set up a monthly Direct Debit.

Direct Debits are a cost-effective way to donate, as it allows CLIC Sargent to plan ahead for the future and helps to keep our administrative costs to a minimum.

How do I know that the person at the CLIC Sargent stand is legitimate?

The fundraisers wear black CLIC Sargent tabards and an identification badge, including the fundraiser’s name, photo and ID number. They will also be stood by a stand that promotes the charity.

Please note that our fundraisers are not authorised to take cash or cheque donations, they will only ask for you to complete a Direct Debit mandate form either in paper format or on a tablet.

Is the fundraiser being paid?

We use a professional fundraising agency for venue fundraising – Charity Link. Our contract is with Charity Link is based on the number of donors recruited and they pay the fundraisers. 

Charity Link is our chosen partner for venue fundraising because we know that they comply with all relevant laws and codes of practice. Fundraisers are coached by CLIC Sargent and by Charity Link to ensure they are informed about our campaigns and provide an excellent service.
