Santander chooses CLIC Sargent as its Charity of the Year for 2013 following a staff vote.

About the partnership

The year long partnership launched on 1 January 2013 and has a fundraising target of £800,000. This will help to fund CLIC Sargent’s eight Homes from Home across the UK for an entire year.

Lorraine Clifton, CLIC Sargent's chief executive, says: “We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen by Santander staff as their charity of the year. This partnership will help ensure that children and young people with cancer, and their families, continue to receive the right care and support at a time when they need it the most.”

Jonathan Elliott, Santander's community manager, commented: “We’re really looking forward to working with CLIC Sargent. We have events planned across the UK to bring together our staff to make a difference for the charity. Fundraising for our Charity of the Year partners has grown year-on-year and we’re confident that this will continue in 2013.”

£33 Pledge

Just £33 could pay for a family to stay overnight in one of CLIC Sargent’s eight Homes from Home, providing free self-catering accommodation near to specialist children’s cancer treatment centres, which are often many miles from a family’s own home. Staying in a Home from Home ensures a family can be close to their child during treatment. The atmosphere in a Home from Home is friendly and welcoming. If they are well enough, the child or young person can stay there too. Donate.


During the year, Santander will support a host of fundraising activities, including two Total Wipeout events, the Santander flame relay and two international treks, as well as branch counter top campaigns.

The company will also be supporting a number of CLIC Sargent’s UK wide campaigns, including Great Mum’s Get Together, Big Buzz and Wig Wednesday.
