Leanna's hopes and dreams

Leanna was diagnosed with cancer when she was six-months-old. Her family had to move from Cornwall to Bristol for her treatment. Leanna's family stayed in Sam's House, one of CLIC Sargent's Homes from Home for six months while Leanna had chemotherapy.

Leanna's hopes and dreams

Leanna's treatment lasted for over two years and it was a struggle for her family. Our CLIC Sargent Nurse Karen was with the family from the start, taking bloods while at home so Leanna didn't have to travel to hospital every day and Karen was there to answer any questions whenever her family needed Karen's help.

Support

Leanna went into remission but four weeks later relapsed and so her treatment had to start all over again.

It was tough financially for Leanna's family so our CLIC Sargent Social Worker helped her family with financial advice on where they could get help. Leanna's mum says she doesn't know how they would have coped without the support they received from CLIC Sargent.

Positive about the future

Leanna is now 12-years-old and despite everything that she has gone through Leanna is still very positive about her future and helping others, especially those who are unwell.

To support other children and young people with cancer like Leanna in the future, please consider leaving a gift to CLIC Sargent in your Will.
