We are thrilled to announce that the J D Wetherspoon and CLIC Sargent partnership has reached an incredible £12million milestone!
J D Wetherspoon pubs across the UK reached the milestone April 2016, taking the total donated to CLIC Sargent since the partnership began in 2002, to over £12million.
The funds have been raised through a variety of activities including a five-a-side football tournament, pub quizzes, themed events and CLIC Sargent’s UK-wide fundraising event Wig Wednesday, where pub staff wore wigs for the day to support children who may lose their hair through cancer treatment.
Alongside the above activities the 4th annual Darts for CLIC Sargent staff tournament took place, with over 600 teams from J D Wetherspoon pubs around the UK, raising over £207,000 for the charity.
J D Wetherspoon chairman Tim Martin said: “We are extremely proud of our association with CLIC Sargent. Since 2002 our staff and customers have brilliantly supported our fundraising efforts.
“The fact that we have now raised £12 million for such a wonderful charity is thanks to them. We look forward to raising even more money in the future.”
About the partnership
The partnership launched in 2002 and has continued to grow year on year.
We are so grateful to J D Wetherspoon customers, employees and local communities who have all played a part in fundraising to support children and young people with cancer.
We are thrilled that following our £10million celebration in March 2015, J D Wetherspoon has pledged to support CLIC Sargent for another five years!

Helping young people with cancer
Our partnership with J D Wetherspoon is strengthened by our mutual commitment to supporting young people.
CLIC Sargent works to improve the lives of young people with cancer, enabling them to fulfil their potential in all areas of their life. J D Wetherspoon offers flexible contracts and working hours to help young people combine their job with their studies.
In addition to this, they also encourage ambitious young people to work their way up to become managers or gain recognised qualifications.
Supporting the Northern Ireland Appeal
J D Wetherspoon pubs in Northern Ireland raised more than £100,000 for CLIC Sargent's Northern Ireland Homes from Home Appeal which launched in March 2012 to build two specialist homes in close proximity to Belfast’s principal treatment centres, where children, young people and their families can stay free of charge near cancer treatment centres.
