CLIC Sargent has 10 Homes from Home, located near to principal treatment centres in eight cities. If you are being treated at one of these centres, you and your family can stay at a Home from Home for free during your treatment.
If you’re over 16, your parents or your partner and/or children can stay at a Home from Home. You may also be able to stay there yourself, either with your family or on your own.
If you are under 16, your family can stay at a Home from Home while you are receiving treatment in hospital. Again, you can join them if you are well enough, but you won’t be able to stay in a Home from Home by yourself.
Our Homes from Home
A Home from Home is a place where you and your family can stay for free while you receive cancer treatment. CLIC Sargent has 10 Homes from Home around the UK. These are located within a ten-minute walk of principal treatment centres in Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Belfast, Nottingham, Oxford and Southampton. You are more likely to be treated at one of these centres if you are under 18 years old.
Staying at a Home from Home
Homes from Homes are welcoming, non-clinical places to stay, with as many home comforts as possible. Each family has their own room and access to a shared lounge area and a kitchen so that you can cook your own meals. In a Home from Home, you can also wash and iron clothes, watch TV, play games or catch up with other residents who are going through similar experiences.
Most Homes from Home have a separate teenage room, located away from the spaces for younger children and parents, with a TV, games console and other activities.
Staying in a Home from Home allows your family to be together while you are undergoing cancer treatment. You can stay at the Home from Home too if you are well enough to leave the ward, but you will need to share a room with your family.
Organising your stay at a Home from Home
You and your family are welcome to stay at one of our Homes from Home for as long, or as little, as you need. To organise your stay, just speak to a member of your ward staff or a CLIC Sargent care professional. They will be able to liaise with the House Managers and check availability for you.
