Here you will find the answers to some of the most common questions concerning making donations to our shops that we are asked at CLIC Sargent.

I want to donate goods but don’t live near a CLIC Sargent shop, can I still donate?

CLIC Sargent doesn’t pick up collections from people’s homes unless they are of a special value or interest. However, you could still support our shops even if you don’t live nearby by selling your donations on eBay as a community seller for CLIC Sargent.

Are there any items you don’t accept?

Our shop teams are experts at converting lots of once loved and second hand goods into vital funds, but there are some items that we can’t accept due to legal or safety reasons.

We do not accept the following items:

Furniture and homeware

  • Upholstered furniture without fire retardant labels
  • Candles without instructions
  • Used duvets

Electrical*

  • White goods
  • Electric blankets
  • Electric showers
  • Cathode ray televisions and monitors 

* Please contact a shop before donating electrical goods to check they are able to process

Heating and cooking

  • Gas appliances, either mains or gas bottles
  • Paraffin stoves heaters (electric or gas)
  • Oil filled radiators storage heaters

Children's

  • Nursery items without fire retardant labels
  • Toys without CE marks

Sharp knives and weapons

  • Knives
  • Swords

Perishable items

  • Opened toiletries and cosmetics 
  • Food stuffs

Other

  • Video tapes
  • Hot water bottles
  • Medication
  • Cleaning agents
  • Glues/ solvents/ aerosols
  • Ivory

Can I find out how much my donations raise?

Yes, if you add Gift Aid to your donated goods when you bring them to your local CLIC Sargent shop, you can get in touch to ask for a gift aid statement to find out exactly what your donations have raised.

I have a donation of equipment or trading stock, can I donate to CLIC Sargent?

Yes. If you are a retailer, trader, or business with a donation of goods or equipment please get in touch and we may be able to re-sell, reuse, or recycle your goods.

How can I tell if the donation bag delivered to my house is legitimate and the contents will go to CLIC Sargent?

Our donation sacks are fully branded and carry a number of hallmarks indicating their authenticity, including FRSB and Charity Retail Association alongside our registered charity numbers. If you are still unsure about the legitimacy of a bag you have received, please contact us.
