About the partnership
Leading aircraft manufacturer Airbus in the UK chose CLIC Sargent via employee vote as its official charity partner in April 2011.
During the 18 month partnership, Airbus is aiming to raise an incredible £200,000 for children and young people with cancer. The total so far is a fantastic £110,000.
With support from their charity challenge scheme, employees from UK sites in Broughton and Filton are committed to raising funds and awareness for CLIC Sargent in their local community.
At the grand opening of the North Factory in Broughton, CLIC Sargent was presented with a cheque for an incredible £24,819.30. Airbus employees generously donated their EADS share dividends, which was then match funded by EADS resulting in the fantastic total. Huge thanks to Airbus employees and EADS from CLIC Sargent.
Staff had a very successful nine months of fundraising in 2011, with sponsored sky dives and running events as well as baking and selling £1,200 worth of cupcakes as part of National Cupcake Week.
At Gŵyl Gobaith music festival in North Wales an auction, raffle and collection were held. Winner of the BBC's Last Choir Standing competition, Only Men Aloud gave an uplifting performance on a rainy Bank Holiday Sunday. Coupled with a golf day organised by charity challenge buddies based at Broughton, almost £20,000 was raised in one weekend. An amazing contribution towards helping children and young people with cancer.
Staff at Airbus Filton took part in a New Year clear out scheme. Staff brought in their unwanted items and gave them a second lease of life by donating them to CLIC Sargent. Amazingly 90 bags of goods were donated. On average we estimate that each bag will raise £30 – so that’s a total of £2,700.
