Whether you’re taking part in a CLIC Sargent challenge event for the first time or you've done one or more before, raising the sponsorship for your challenge adventure is definitely something you will need to plan in advance. Kerry Timbrell is CLIC Sargent Participant Support Manager. She will be your main point of contact at the charity as you begin your journey towards your event and fundraising success!

Kerry says 'I’m the fundraising support manager at CLIC Sargent. I'm here to help you with anything you need relating to your challenge. I'll be in touch shortly after you book your challenge to welcome you to the team and find out a little more about you and how I can help you achieve your goal. I’ll give you a call every four to six weeks to see how you are getting on and offer any support you may need, but if you need to call me, I’m only a phone call away.'

You will receive a fundraising guide containing tips and ideas on how to kick start your fundraising along with a list of resources that are available to you to help in raising sponsorship money. On top of this we will send you a monthly e-newsletter with even more fundraising tips and ideas to help you plan in advance to maximise your fundraising. From time to time the e-newsletter will offer some great training tips too.

Materials

We've got everything you need to let everyone know who you're raising money for and why, including:

  • Posters
  • Balloons
  • Bannering
  • T-shirts
  • Pens
  • Collecting tins and buckets

Before you order please have a good think about what resources you really need. All our resources cost CLIC Sargent money to produce, so please wash and re-use t-shirts rather than order more each time you host a new event or collection. We also ask that you return your collection tins and buckets when you've finished with them so that we can send them out to another supporter. All this helps us to save money which can be used to support children and young people with cancer.

You can do it!

Part of the challenge is raising the sponsorship itself. This can seem very daunting at first but once you get started you will be surprised at how well you do and the pennies will soon turn into pounds.

Download our fundraising tips below for more ideas and read how other fundraisers smashed their targets.
