Sargent Cancer Care for Children, which merged with CLIC (Cancer & Leukaemia In Childhood) was founded in 1968 in lasting memory of celebrated conductor Sir Malcolm Sargent by his secretary Sylvia Darley OBE.
top of pageThe CLIC Sargent ‘Christmas Celebration’ is the largest of the musical events and is held annually at The Royal Albert Hall. It is a modern celebration of the festive period, incorporating children’s choirs from around the UK, with celebrity performances (who in the past have included Joss Stone, Lamar, Lee Ryan and Miss Dynamite) and for the first time this year, non-musical variety acts.
The Mountbatten Festival of Music also raises money for CLIC Sargent. Held at The Royal Albert Hall the military Blue Band performs everything from Bolero to Land of Hope and Glory.
CLIC Sargent also benefits from the Promenaders’ Musical Charities Trust which raises money for a number of musical charities. They are stalwart supporters who raise money with collection buckets at each concert.
