Original topic post: When can we travel to USA?

message: I recently found out my son has Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, which is treatable by harsh chemotherapy, which will take around 4-5 months, by then it will be Feb/March 2010. We were due to go to Florida in the April but obviously won't be able to go now so are postponing until Sept 2010. However I have been informed it will be really difficult to get travel insurance and Sept could be out of the picture as well. Does anyone know when, once treatment for cancer has finished, you can travel abroad?

message: Our son had a different diagnosis (alveolar parameningeal rhabdomyosarcoma) and he finished treatment a year ago. We're planning a trip to Disneyworld in May 2010 (so over 18 months after treatment finished) BUT out of nine cancer specialist insurers, 8 would not insure our son and only one would and the cost was £3800. We feel it's worth it as we don't know what the future holds but some people think we're mad to give insurance people that much cash for a two week holiday!!!
Clic Sargent have a list of specialist cancer travel insurance companies.
