Psychosocial research encompasses research which addresses the emotional, psychological and social impact of childhood cancer on children, young people, their parents / carers, and the other members of their family.
Examples of Psychosocial research include: experience of diagnosis, the impact of hair loss or other altered appearances.
CLIC Sargent offers research grants to support Psychosocial and Clinical/Scientific Research.
Scientific and Clinical Research:
Scientific research aims for greater understanding and improved treatment of cancer.
Clinical research looks at ways to improve treatment, dosages, and managing the side-effects of certain treatments. The outcome is to reduce the toxicity of certain treatments, thus reducing the side-effects of cancer treatment for children and young people.
