Home > What we do >What is the Child Cancer Foundation?
It dedicates itself to research and is run by CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity.
Why fund research?
We want to contribute to improved survival rates, reduce side effects and minimize the emotional impact of childhood cancer.
In 2007, our commitment to research continued in the shape of £766,000 in grants and research work.
In 2008, over £485,000 was awarded in support of research into childhood cancer and its impact on children, young people and their families.
Please note: there is no call out for research grant applications in 2009.
Campaigning on behalf of families
Our survey research asks families directly for their views and can lead to campaign issues like parents' right to care and the quality of hospital food. Through our information campaigns, you can help CLIC Sargent speak out and advocate for families, on the issues that really matter to families.
Help us
If you have been affected by childhood cancer (either as a patient or carer) and would like to register your interest in participating in psychosocial research conducted by CLIC Sargent, please e-mail research@clicsargent.org.uk and one of the team will get back to you.
What sort of research does the Child Cancer Foundation support?
- Laboratory research – looking for causes and possible new treatments.
- Clinical research – using different treatments to improve the control and management of symptoms.
- Psychosocial research – exploring the real needs of families to improve their quality of life.
