Do you need a financial hand?

Many families find that cancer can put their finances under strain. That’s why we offer CLIC Sargent Care Grants to help ease the pressure.

"My daughter had a tumour in her shoulder blade and had a huge operation to remove this along with quite a lot of muscle. She’s had awful trouble writing at school since and the £300 grant you sent us to buy a laptop for her has allowed her to regain the confidence she lost."

CLIC Sargent Care Grants

Money may seem unimportant when a child is diagnosed with cancer. Yet, as well as coping with the emotional stress, many families soon find that cancer brings financial strain too. Unpaid leave from work, after school care for siblings and travel are the most common costs.

Help and advice

That’s why we offer Care Grants of £200 to help with immediate financial needs. Compassionate and Exceptional Grants both offering up to £300 per annum are also available to some.

Any family with a child or young person (aged 24 or under) who is receiving treatment for cancer or palliative care is welcome to apply. We’re committed to helping everyone who needs us, so we don’t use means testing. CLIC Sargent care staff will also help families to find out what state benefits are available to them, and our specialist benefits advisor can even help with applications (call the Helpline on 0800 197 0068 and ask for the benefits advisor).

How do families make an application?

All applications for grants need to be made through a CLIC Sargent Social Worker or healthcare professional. Please contact CLIC Sargent’s Grants Manager on 0208 752 2800, or email grants@clicsargent.org.uk

How long does it take for a cheque to be issued?

Our aim is to respond to each request and send a cheque within two or three days at the most, because we recognise the urgency of such needs.
