When Pat found out that her son Mark had leukaemia it was a huge shock for the whole family. But then Pat met Tracy, a CLIC Sargent Social Worker who gave her and Mark much needed support and advice.
"Tracy has been marvellous for me. She has not only helped me to cope with the stress and strain of having a really ill child and been a shoulder to cry on, but she has helped me to understand the more practical side of things like applying for grants to help us through."
CLIC Sargent Family Care & Support
At CLIC Sargent, we recognise that families need specialist support and advice from the very moment a child is diagnosed. Our Social Workers offers emotional, social and practical help in hospital and at home.
Someone who understands
CLIC Sargent Social Workers offer every member of the family, including siblings and grandparents, the support they need. They also help with practical necessities like applying for benefits and grants. Working around families, they try to visit when and where it suits, in hospital or sometimes at home.
How do CLIC Sargent Social Workers help families day to day?
CLIC Sargent Social Workers not only help cope with the emotional stresses and strains of caring for a child who is really ill. They can also help families deal with the demands of daily life, including care of siblings, work and financial commitments.
Does their help cost families anything?
No. CLIC Sargent Social Workers are funded by the charity.
